ASVAB

The ASVAB Program- career exploration

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Career Exploration is a comprehensive career exploration and planning program that includes a multiple aptitude test battery, an interest inventory and various career planning tools designed to help students explore the world of work.

The ASVAB Career Exploration Program is intended for use with students in the 11th and 12th grades as well as students in post secondary schools.  The Program provides tools, including the test battery and interest inventory developed by the Department of Defense to help high school and post secondary students across the nation learn more about career exploration and planning.  Results of the aptitude test and the interest inventory enable students to evaluate their skills, estimate performance in academic and vocational endeavors and identify potentially satisfying careers.  These results are integrated with work values to help students identify and prioritize possible career choices.  Students are encouraged to consider their own work-related values and other important personal preferences as they explore the world of work and learn career exploration skills that will benefit them throughout their work lives. Here is a practice link web page http://asvabpracticetestonline.com/

The ASVAB is scheduled for November 9, 2017Students will have to sign up in Building 7 office beginning Monday Oct. 23rd.

PSAT/NMSQT

The PSAT, or Preliminary SAT, is administered at this school each October. There is no need to register, all eligible students are enrolled. There are two tests; PSAT/NMSQT is for students in their second and third year of high school and the PSAT 8/9 is for students in the 8th grade or those in the first year of high school.

National Merit Scholarship Competition:

Students who meet published participation requirements, which include taking the PSAT/NMSQT in their 11th grade year, will enter NMSC competitions for recognition and awards. Any student can take the PSAT, but only the scores from the 11th grade year will be used to determine NMSC qualification. Ninth and 10th grade students should take the PSAT as a practice for future PSAT's as well as the SAT. Further information about NMSC programs, entry requirements, and scholarships to be offered can be found at http://www.nationalmerit.org/
