Madelyn LoCascio is 20 years old. She attended Sable Point Elementary, Rock Lake Middle and Lake Brantley High School where she cheered and played fastpitch softball. Maddie has played travel softball in Central FL since she was 6 years old. She played for Future Rebels, Diamond Girlz and Team BuckedUp organizations throughout her travel ball career. She then graduated high school in 2016.
Maddie’s freshman year she earned a full scholarship to St Petersburg JC as a catcher and transferred to Webber International her Sophomore year to play softball. This past July, Maddie was diagnosed with a rare form of sarcoma that has delayed the start of her Junior year of college and has ended her ability to continue playing the game she loves. She has courageously fought through 6 cycles of chemo and is scheduled for elbow replacement surgery. After surgery she will continue with another 8 cycles of chemo.
This period of time has been the most challenging competition Maddie has ever faced and she’s extremely grateful and humbled by the overwhelming unbelievable support from family, friends, teammates, coaches and lots of thoughts & prayers. We are hoping the softball community will come together and help out one of their own local players in this most difficult time
