Tips and Tricks for Students

Hello Lake Brantley High School Students!

We are about to begin what will be a very exciting 2021-2022 school year. As we welcome you back onto campus we wanted to share a few tips and tricks to help you navigate the first day of school. As you prepare for your first day of school on Tuesday, August 10th, please review this information as it will help you make sure you get where you need to be.

Where to Go

When you first arrive on campus, you will need to verify that you are going to the correct 1 st period class. While many of you picked up schedules during student orientation, those schedules may now look very different. We will have lists of 1st period schedules posted on the media center windows, Patriot Pointe (cafeteria) windows, and on Building 7. This will help you ensure you get to the right 1 st period class.

Once you get to your 1 st period class, you will receive a paper schedule. This will help you navigate the rest of your day. If you see a discrepancy between the paper schedule and the schedule in Skyward, please follow the Skyward schedule. Skyward is always the most up to date version of your schedule.

Schedule Changes

If you have changes you would like to make to your schedule or you have other schedule issues, we will try to address these issues as quickly as possible. The only schedule changes that we will be handling immediately will be for the following reasons

1. You have a blank period in your schedule
2. You have two classes scheduled during the same period
3. You have already taken a course and received credit
4. You are a senior that needs the course for graduation

If you are requesting a schedule change that does not meet the above requirements, you will be able to pickup a course change request form from the building 1 front desk, the building 5 office, or the building 6 office. Once you have filled this form out and have received a parent/guardian signature, you can return the form back to your counselor and they will process the schedule change if it is possible to do so. Many of our classes are already full and if a course has reached capacity, we will not be able to grant your schedule change. In order to check the status of your schedule change, you will need to monitor your Skyward account. Unfortunately, due to a variety of reasons including capacity in the dining area, we cannot make schedule changes to accommodate a request to change your lunch period.

If you wish to drop an AP class, you will need to fill out the AP Drop form. This form will require you to obtain a parent signature, teacher signature, and then will need to be turned into Dr. Cowgill in room 5-021.

If you are having difficulties finding your classes, please feel free to ask any adult on campus for assistance. We are happy to help!
