Welcome

Patriots,

Welcome back to Lake Brantley High School for the 2023-2024 school year!  On the eve of the first day of school, I wanted to provide you all with a few updates for tomorrow (and beyond) for you all to know so that you can plan ahead.

As many of you already know, we are moving to a new bell schedule for the 2023-2024 school year.  We will be on a block schedule Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday and will be on a "straight 7" schedule on Wednesdays.  Because the start of the school year is on a Thursday, we will do our regular Thursday block day of 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th periods on August 10th, and on August 11th we will do our regular Friday block day of 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th periods.

For your reference, the bell schedule is attached LBHS Bell Schedule 23-24 - FINAL.pdf

Heading into tomorrow, it is very important for your student to check their most UP TO DATE SCHEDULE IN SKYWARD.  Although we gave out paper schedules at student orientation, there have likely been changes to your schedule as we continue making schedule changes and leveling courses.  The leveling work will continue after the first day of school as we strive to make the learning environments equitable from class to class.  For the first two days of school, certified school counselors will be available in the Media Center to address student holes in schedules (for example, if your student doesn't have a 3rd period class).  Unfortunately, counselors will not be able to process schedule changes for students during this time (as students should be in their scheduled class).  In order to request a schedule change however, please use the following link and the counselors will get to it as soon as possible.  https://forms.gle/QKP19QoqpDaH5NaQ7

Another important point I want to discuss is traffic.  Before school and after school, please anticipate huge traffic jams and delays as everyone will be trying to drop their students off (some of which are doing so for the first time).  I would try and plan on getting to school no later than 6:45 on the first few days of school to avoid any major delays (and headaches) for you and your student!  We recommend the following if you are dropping your student off by car:

1.  If you are coming from Hunt Club, turn left into the first entrance to the school by the bus loop for student drop off in the back of the school by 6, 7, 8.

2. If you are coming from SR 434, turn right into the first entrance of the school for student drop off by The Rocks.

Also, make sure that your student has either memorized or written down their student ID number.  This will be the key to many things for them the first few days (login info for computers, breakfast/lunch, their email address).  It is important for them to know that number as it will save them time in the lines.

Many of our teacher hires over the summer are in the process of completing their onboarding with SCPS and will be cleared soon.  If your student has a substitute in their class on the first day of school, don't worry!  We have a plan for getting those teachers in and instructing as soon as they clear the hiring hurdles left in front of them.  Our student enrollment has grown significantly at LBHS in the last year as we are pushing almost 3,000 students!  With all that is happening on campus, we can say with certainty that it is a GREAT time to be a Patriot!

We are here for you all if you need anything or have any questions.  Thank you all for your patience and understanding as we work through these first few days of school, and Go Patriots!
